At Bobcat Contracting, the health and safety of company employees and the public is of primary importance. Candidates for employment are subject to a pre-employment drug screening, a criminal background check, and a motor vehicle report (driver’s license check). Upon hire, new employees must complete extensive safety orientation courses including distracted driving and defensive driving courses. Pipeline and oilfield service sector employees receive operator qualification (OQ) training and testing. Employees also take an OSHA 10 hour course, receive first aid and CPR training, and participate in HAZWOPER training through an annual course.

Mandatory company-wide safety courses are held on an ongoing basis. Job safety analysis reports are completed for each project on a daily basis by each job foreman. Crew leaders also conduct tailgate safety meetings each morning before work begins. Company safety personnel conduct frequent unannounced jobsite inspections to reinforce company safety policies and procedures.

The safety program is monitored and approved by National Compliance Management Services, Inc. based in Hutchinson, Kansas. NCMS assists oil and gas operators with contractor pre-qualification related to federally-mandated regulations and/or specific operator requirements. NCMS is utilized by many major oil and gas pipeline companies including ExxonMobil, TEPPCO, Explorer, Koch, ConocoPhillips, Atmos Energy, and many others.
